One year after traveling to Hope4Cancer for treatment and filming of the world’s first cancer reality TV show, Eight Days, follow-up patient Nicole sits down with Dr. Tony Jimenez to recall the details of her incredible journey healing from ovarian cancer.
Early Days & Limited Options
When Nicole was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in 2014, she had never heard of holistic treatment before — and didn’t even know it was an option. Following her doctors’ recommendations for treatment, she promptly underwent surgery to remove her right ovary and a six-month regimen of chemotherapy. For four years, the treatment appeared to work…
But in 2018, the cancer returned, leaving Nicole no choice but a full hysterectomy and yet another six months of chemotherapy. This time, however, even appearances were less successful. At the end of her chemotherapy rounds, a final CT scan revealed metastases in both her liver and lungs. Though the doctors urged Nicole to pursue even more chemotherapy, luckily, at this point, fate — and faith — intervened.
Eight Days & Answered Prayers
After seeing an inquiring Facebook post by Eight Days executive producer, Charles Mattocks, Nicole reached out on a whim to share her experience with ovarian cancer. Not expecting it to lead anywhere, Nicole recalls feeling shocked to hear back from Charles, and even more shocked when he directed her to the Hope4Cancer website:
“I never knew anything about holistic treatment… I was looking at the website and thought, ‘This is what I’ve been praying for.’ I knew there had to be something else; someone who could teach me how to eat correctly, what lifestyle changes to make. In the states, they don’t do that. So I’d been asking God to send someone who could help me.”
Now over a year later and at her second Hope4Cancer follow-up, Nicole shares all the details of her cancer recovery. Find out what her first experience in the clinic was like, her most important takeaways from treatment, the lifestyle changes she’s made upon returning home, and more in the full testimony below!
