Why Alternative?

Understanding The Difference

If you or your loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, we want you to know that there are options. We’d love to be part of your journey, but moreover, we want you to do what’s best for you. In order to help you make the most informed decision regarding treatment, we’ve dedicated this module to explaining our background in the alternative healing world, as well as the Hope4Cancer difference.

In the medical world, the terms alternative, integrative, and conventional often take on different meanings for different people. As you contemplate and research treatment options with Hope4Cancer, you will see these terms referenced often. For clarification, we’ve provided definitions as they are applicable in the context of Hope4Cancer.

Conventional Therapies: Widely nicknamed “cut, burn, and poison,” conventional cancer therapies employ a combination of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, and have been the treatment standard for several decades. Despite their wide application, conventional treatment methods are notorious for lacking long-term effectiveness and are associated with a number of serious side effects (see below). Although initial tumor size reduction may give patients an illusory sense of security, these methods do not treat the root of cancer, often causing the disease to return in more resistant and aggressive forms.

Alternative Therapies: By nature, the word “alternative” implies a different option. When presented with the term “alternative therapies,” it is common for homeopathy, acupuncture, and similar methods to come to mind. However, this represents a very limited scope of what alternative therapies actually cover. Ranging from ancient and time-tested practices to modern techniques on the cutting-edge of technology, alternative cancer therapies simply focus on treatments that effectively kill cancer cells, but do not cause toxicity. This approach to cancer treatment developed as a result of the negative side effects and inefficiency associated with conventional methods. While not all alternative therapies are nature-made, natural ingredients are an essential component of this approach – and as a result, patients often enjoy a better quality of life during and after treatment when compared to conventional regimens.

Integrative Therapies: As suggested by the name, integrative cancer therapies aim to combine conventional medicine with their more natural counterparts in the hope of improving effectiveness, reducing side effects, and improving quality of life. However, strict regulatory conditions in the United States and other developed countries have created an environment that strongly favors conventional therapies, leaving doctors who believe in alternative methods a very limited toolbox to work with.

Using these definitions, Hope4Cancer treatments fit best into an expanded definition of alternative therapies. The three cornerstones of our unique approach to cancer therapy are:

1. Safe, Non-Toxic Therapies
As the Hippocratic Oath states, “To do any good, you must first do no harm.” We are proud to provide our patients with a variety of effective, non-toxic therapies that avoid adverse side effects.

2. Whole-Body Approach
Incorporating therapeutic elements dedicated to healing the mind, body, and spirit, we treat not just the cancer in a person, but the person who has cancer. We believe true healing is multi-dimensional, and starts by unlocking the power within.

3. Education and Empowerment
We invest our resources not only into treating our patients, but also into educating them, so they can stay empowered and in control of their own recovery. Our patients leave both feeling better and knowing better.

Due to their inability to distinguish between cancer cells and healthy cells, conventional cancer therapies are associated with a staggering list of debilitating side effects. Please understand that our goal in listing these potential side effects is not to scare you, but rather to inform and empower you. Fear is often the first natural reaction to a cancer diagnosis, and may inhibit patients from researching and understanding their options before accepting a doctor’s recommended treatment. It is important to trust your doctor, but always remember, this is YOUR life and YOUR treatment!
