At the age of 32 and in the midst of traveling the world full-time with her adventurous family of five, Emily Bell realized that a suspicious lump on her breast seemed to be growing. Shaken by the idea that it could be cancer but already deeply committed to a lifestyle of health and wellness, she returned home to get some answers…
In June 2019, three days after her physical exam, Emily recalls being in a Costco when her doctor delivered the news of a breast cancer diagnosis:
“I remember she kept saying, ‘your cancer, your cancer’, and it just did not compute. I was in shock and disbelief, going through the checkout line and trying to listen on the phone, but having the hardest time processing everything.”
Eager to heal and understand her options, Emily and her husband, Colby, began to gather information and meet with a variety of experts. But after being told her case wouldn’t respond well to chemotherapy by a surgeon, only to have a panel of oncologists then recommend chemotherapy as Emily’s primary treatment, the couple felt a severe lack of confidence and hope in conventional medicine. The conflicting information, coupled with her doctors’ pessimistic expectation of recovery, finally led Emily to look for other options.
When her search for alternative healing methods brought her to the Hope4Cancer website, Emily felt a resounding sense of calm.
“Everything had been pointing to either mastectomy or chemotherapy, and neither of those felt peaceful or hopeful to me… but when I read about the 7 Key Principles philosophy and Hope4Cancer’s treatment approach and saw the patient stories, everything in me was like, YES! This is where I’m supposed to go. I just knew it was what my body needed.”
In her own special vlog testimony, Emily chronicles her treatment journey day-by-day and reflects upon her experience after returning home.
