According to the Medical Tourism Association, approximately 14 million people per year travel overseas for the purpose of medical treatment. As more and more cancer patients become frustrated with the level of care and lack of options, this number will likely only continue to rise. Our strategic locations in Cancun and Playas de Tijuana, Mexico, enable us to provide patients with more opportunities for cancer healing and an unparalleled standard of doctor-patient care. If you’re in search of effective alternatives to surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, keep reading to learn the top 4 reasons why Mexico should be on your radar as a destination for medical tourism.
1. Affordability
Rising healthcare costs in the U.S. are a significant driver for medical tourism of all types, and cancer treatment is no exception. In fact, the National Cancer Institute estimates that the average cost of medical care and drugs in the United States costs over $42,000 out of pocket in the first year of a diagnosis alone. At Hope4Cancer Treatment Centers, we’re able to offer effective alternative cancer treatments at a lower cost than comparable therapies in Europe and Asia thanks to Mexico’s reasonable labor costs and a lack of reliance on products from global pharmaceutical companies.
2. Accessibility
Not only does our location in Mexico lend us more affordability, but Mexico’s progressive health policies also allow us to give patients more access to advanced therapies from all around the world. This makes a crucial difference for cancer patients, as it provides the chance to utilize every viable treatment option on the journey to healing, rather than being limited or even being told there are no other options. Additionally, we do not experience the same pressure from insurance companies to meet daily treatment quotas in Mexico, meaning our patients get more access to their own doctors as well. No more feeling rushed through impersonal appointments; our medical team is able to truly care for and get to know each individual patient that walks through our doors.
3. Simplicity
Patients Beyond Borders (PBB), a consumer information company on international medical travel, estimates that more than 1 million travelers travel internationally to Mexico for medical care. As an already established hub of international travel and a top destination for medical tourism in particular, Mexico’s infrastructure supports ease and efficiency for travelers. For example, visitor visas currently allow entry into the country for up to 180 days, and travel is uncomplicated with both land access via the Tijuana/San Diego border and major airline routes destined for Mexico’s international airports every day.
4. Serenity
Finally, one of our favorite reasons to pursue cancer treatment in Mexico is the unparalleled environment it provides for your healing journey and recovery process. One of only a few locations globally that boasts year-round tropical weather, stunning beaches, and tranquil ocean waters, the magic of Mexico is simply unmatched. The serenity and peace you’ll experience strolling barefoot down the beach and admiring stunning sunsets at the end of your treatment days is healing in and of itself – and just can’t be found anywhere else.
