Dr. Onassis Calderón, M.D., M.A.
Attending Physician
Tijuana Center
Dr. Onassis Calderón felt drawn to medicine from an early age, guided by a deep sense of purpose and service. During medical training in Tijuana, Dr. Calderón completed social service at the Castro Limón Foundation, providing care to pediatric patients with cancer. This formative experience shaped a lifelong commitment to oncology and reinforced the belief that medicine extends beyond diagnosis and treatment—it is about accompanying patients and families through vulnerable moments with empathy, presence, and humanity. This philosophy continues to guide Dr. Calderón’s approach to care, emphasizing the importance of treating the whole person rather than focusing solely on disease.
To further strengthen clinical expertise, Dr. Calderón pursued a Master’s degree in Clinical Medicine in Spain, deepening a commitment to integrative, patient-centered care. Fluent in three languages and currently learning a fourth, Dr. Calderón views communication as a cornerstone of effective healthcare and an essential tool for building trust and understanding across cultures.
Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Calderón maintains balance and discipline through an active lifestyle that includes dance, long-distance running—including half marathons—and strength training. Family and close relationships play a central role in personal well-being, providing constant inspiration and support. These values contribute to a grounded, compassionate presence in both professional and personal life.
Currently practicing at Hope4Cancer Tijuana, Dr. Calderón works within a collaborative, holistic care environment where medical training and personal values align. In this setting, Dr. Calderón is dedicated to delivering compassionate, integrative care that honors each patient as a unique and complex individual.
