“When a dear friend, a cancer survivor, told us about Hope for Cancer, we knew that God had sent us the right people to help carry us through this journey,” shared Justin’s wife, Shalom.

Justin is a 42-year-old mechanic shop owner from Tennessee. In March 2024, he began noticing facial swelling and started having trouble breathing. At first, doctors thought it was anxiety, but he started developing chest pain and tiredness that got progressively worse. So, the doctors recommended a CT scan, which revealed the actual cause of his symptoms.

Justin’s Stage II Large B-Cell Lymphoma Cancer Patient Journey

The scan showed a large mass of abnormal tissue in the mediastinal region (the area between the lungs), fluid buildup around his heart, and enlarged lymph nodes. This mass was pressing on important blood vessels in his chest. On April 5, 2024, after a biopsy of the affected tissue, Justin received his diagnosis: Stage II Large B-Cell Lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the immune system.

Seeking less aggressive treatment options than standard approaches, Justin contacted Hope4Cancer and was admitted on April 22, 2024.

“When a dear friend, a cancer survivor, told us about Hope for Cancer, we knew that God had sent us the right people to help carry us through this journey,” shared Justin’s wife, Shalom.

Justin’s initial treatments included Sono-Photo Dynamic Therapy (SPDT), PDT+, Hyperthermia, Bio-Immunotherapies, IV Therapies, Near Infrared Sauna, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, among others.

However, there was one aspect of his condition that required urgent attention—the tumor was pressing on the superior vena cava, a critical vein that returns blood to the heart. This required immediate treatment with steroids. Due to the size of the tumor, our medical team also recommended starting chemotherapy to shrink the mass, allowing Justin to receive this necessary treatment while remaining under our comprehensive care protocol.

Justin’s healing journey wasn’t without challenges. He developed pneumonia, a blood clot, and experienced a few complications during his chemotherapy treatment. Despite these obstacles, by July 3, 2024, Justin had improved enough to go home, continuing with non-toxic therapies at home. He also received personalized guidance for his nutritional and emotional health.

The good news came quickly. By early October 2024, less than three months after leaving Hope4Cancer, Justin’s PET scan conducted in Tennessee showed significant improvement in the mediastinal area. Follow-up tests in December 2024 at our Tijuana treatment center confirmed what everyone had hoped for—Justin’s lymph nodes had reduced dramatically in both size and number, and his doctor concluded he was in remission.

“Three months later, we returned to Hope4Cancer for a follow-up and saw a note above his name on the chart,” said Shalom. “It said: ‘SUCCESS STORY.’”

Since then, Justin has continued to heal and gain strength. By early 2025, he was no longer experiencing fluid buildup in his lungs, and his energy was steadily improving. In a moment that marked how far he’d come, Justin even rode a bicycle for a mile—an activity that once felt out of reach. According to Shalom, the updated Home Program they received during their December visit to Tijuana played a key role in his turnaround.

And the most recent update? On April 2, 2025, exactly one year after his original CT scan that revealed the cancer, Justin underwent a contrast CT scan that brought confirmation of everything he and Shalom believed:

“His contrast CT scan showed us what we already knew in our hearts—we are winning the battle against B-Cell Lymphoma,” Shalom shared. “His lymph nodes were clear and normal! We plan to continue doing our therapies and doing our part to continue healing. We’re excited to see what this next chapter holds for us.”

To others walking a similar path, Shalom and Justin offer this advice:

  • Have grit. The journey will challenge you, and you’ll need perseverance to see it through.
  • Be willing to be carried. Let others support you—they are there to serve and help you heal. Sometimes, you need to lean on those who’ve walked this path before.
  • Commit to follow through. Don’t quit on yourself. You are worth the fight.

“Through it all, we’ve experienced God’s peace, love, and healing. And we are beyond grateful for the team that helped carry us through this storm.”
— Shalom and Justin
