Can Deep Breathing Be Key to Cancer Healing? You Bet!

Have you ever thought about how important oxygen is to you and your daily survival? It is one of the few health factors that we literally cannot live without for more than just a few minutes. We can survive harsh conditions (e.g., blizzards, thunderstorms) without shelter for about three hours. After three days, we need water or we’ll perish. We can make it three weeks without food. But air? For the majority of us, we can only last three minutes without it.

Power of Oxygenation

At Hope4Cancer Institute, we know the power of oxygenation for healing cancer. It is one of our seven key principles of cancer therapy and is part of the foundation of our alternative, non-toxic cancer treatments. Through our research and experience with patients, we have found the considerable benefits of delivering oxygen (O2) in high concentrations under pressure along with ozone (O3) via intravenous, liquid, and topical therapies. We also know the power of deep purposeful breathing as an oxygenation and calming method.

During their in-patient stay at Hope4Cancer, our cancer patients increase their oxygen levels therapeutically with our hyperbaric oxygen chambers, intravenous (IV) ozone, rectal insufflation, and topically. Our newest topical treatment, cold plasma ozone therapy, enables our team to deliver ozone to the tumor site, which is another way to encourage the growth of healthy cells and the death of cancer cells.

How Does Oxygen Affect Cancer?

Healthy cells thrive in oxygen-rich environments, while cancer cells prefer oxygen-poor environments. Other terms that describe a low oxygen environment are “hypoxic” and “anaerobic.” In the 1930s, Nobel Prize winner Dr. Otto Warburg hypothesized,

“Cancer has only one prime cause. The prime cause of cancer is the replacement of normal oxygen respiration of body cells by an anaerobic (oxygen-less) cell respiration.”

He believed that cancer cells thrive in oxygen-poor environments and many research studies now support his assertion. Thanks to Warburg and others, we know that cancer cells metabolize differently than normal cells, which need oxygen for respiration. Instead, cancer cells metabolize through the process of fermentation. This inferior form of energy production is activated when the oxygen level of a cell drops below 40 percent. This leads to an acidic environment that encourages the growth of cancer cells.

According to Warburg, the metabolism of cancer cells is approximately eight times higher than the metabolism of normal cells, which is why they need sugar to fuel respiration. We know from our research and experience that processed sugars feed cancer cell growth.

Oxygen is a Health Driver

When the body has sufficient oxygen, cells remain healthy. However, when the body is deprived of oxygen, disease can set in. Signs of oxygen deprivation include fatigue, weakness, low hemoglobin counts, clumped red blood cells, anemia, and of course, the growth of cancer cells. Increasing oxygen levels at the cellular site in an oxygen starved environment of a diseased body is key to reversing the anaerobic process, which heals the body while restoring it to an optimal cellular oxygen environment.

Optimum oxygen levels prevent toxic build up and keep bacteria, viruses, and cancer cells in check. In particular, ozone therapy helps to increase the available oxygen in the body and has a long list of benefits that include: inactivating viruses, stimulating the immune system, cleaning arteries and veins, purifying blood and the lymph system, oxidizing toxins, reducing inflammation, normalizing hormone and enzyme production.

From a cancer perspective, we find that our ozone therapies — whether delivered via the rectum, skin, vagina, or intravenously — support the immune system, which in turn heals cancer cells. An example of intravenous use is our ultraviolet blood irradiation (UV-BI) treatment. With UV-BI, blood is extracted from the patient, treated with ozone, and irradiated with ultraviolet light before re-injecting it back into the blood stream with virtually no side effects or adverse events.

Healing with Oxygen

You don’t have to be diagnosed with cancer to incorporate oxygen therapies into your wellness plan. Since we all are bombarded with toxins, chemicals, and negative energy forces on a daily basis, making sure we are getting enough oxygen to repair our cells is important for longevity. Increasing oxygen in the body can be as simple as deep slow breathing three or four times a day.

We also find that exercise is a great oxygenator. Many of our cancer patients report that their mental state also improves when they take the time to do rhythmic breathing and exercise regularly. We love that our patients have access to the Pacific Ocean across the street from our clinic. They can get fresh air and exercise on the beach or board walk to enhance the alternative cancer treatments they receive in our clinic.

Recipe for Health

At Hope4Cancer, we view oxygen-enhancing therapies as a key ingredient in our recipe for cancer healing. While no single oxygen therapy is the cure for cancer, increasing the oxygen levels of our patients to support their healing is a critical factor in their treatment. We are always thinking about the response of the whole body when our team of doctors develop and deliver a treatment plan for any type of cancer. Our oxygen therapies are an important part of the equation that helps a patient become cancer-free and stay that way!
