From Disconnect & Disbelief

In late 2022, amidst navigating the grief of losing her mother and brother, and putting her father in hospice care, Rochelle faced yet another challenge. Perceiving herself as healthy, she thought nothing of a routine annual mammogram she’d scheduled, which she’d been diligently receiving for over ten years. Yet, the day after her exam, Rochelle received a jarring text message that revealed three tumors — an “invasive and aggressive” form of cancer. Though her schedule began to fill with doctor appointments, Rochelle quickly noticed a disconnect in the support she desired vs. what she received, as her conventional medical team seemed to rush through the motions, discouraged her from asking questions, and failed to address the emotional losses she’d experienced as being potentially connected to her cancer.

“When I saw that I was scheduled for chemotherapy without my permission, that was just not okay with me. My mind needed more information, but [my oncologist] didn’t love me questioning the system.”

 

 

…To Educated Discernment

Honoring her need for something more, Rochelle began to conduct her own research and identified that she resonated with a more holistic approach to cancer treatment. Finally feeling educated and empowered, she soon made her way to Hope4Cancer Treatment Centers in Mexico.
