Double mastectomy. Radiation. Chemotherapy. These were the options Kendra Soucie was advised to immediately pursue following a diagnosis of stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer. Wary of making a hasty life-altering decision, Kendra and her husband, Brad, decided they would instead take time to research and pray about their options.
“[The surgeon] pretty much implied that by doing so we were ‘taking my life into my own hands.’ But our response was, ‘Who knows how long this has been growing in my body? We have time to make decisions.’”
Leading Her Own Parade: “Quality of Life Matters”
An avid reader and researcher, Kendra began to question why she was feeling so pressured to accept traditional treatments as the “only” way to treat cancer — and soon realized this notion was far from the truth. As she continued to explore the options for holistic cancer treatment, she felt more and more confident in her choice to pursue an alternative path.
“So many people who don’t understand the fullness of it will look at you like you’re stupid… but quality of life matters.”
Finding Relief: “I Can Feel God’s Presence”
For the first ten months of her cancer journey, Kendra pioneered her own treatment path, introducing a plant-based diet, alkaline water, exercise, and IV vitamin C, among other holistic treatments, to her routine. However, with little improvement in her ultrasounds, she knew she was missing some important pieces of the treatment puzzle. Excited to hand over the reins to professionals who could guide them, Kendra and Brad decided the next step of their journey needed to be at Hope4Cancer Treatment Centers.
“To walk into the clinic from the very first day and feel the presence of God; to be hugged by every staff member; it was such an unexpected part of the healing process. From the very beginning, I told my husband if we were to spend the money on a program like this, it would be at Hope4Cancer because they were big on the emotional and spiritual aspects of healing — and I feel those are just as important as anything else we’re doing to build up the body.”
Now just over 10 months into her cancer journey, Kendra shares the incredible transformation she’s experienced at Hope4Cancer. To hear the rest of Kendra’s inspiring breast cancer survivor story, be sure to watch her full patient testimony in the video below.
