Jennifer's Breast Cancer Patient Journey

When Hope4Cancer patient Jennifer first received the news of a stage 0 breast cancer diagnosis at the age of 28, her conventional team assured her she was young and that a mastectomy would be all she needed. Trusting their confidence and advice, she continued on with her life — but years later, Jennifer was devastated to find the cancer had returned and worsened.

 

From Diagnoses & Denial…

Years after being told she was clear by her conventional team, Jennifer was shocked to receive the news of a metastasis. Though she initially felt called to pursue a natural treatment approach, feeling the pressure and fear from her family and medical team, she underwent a rigorous treatment of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, hoping to charge through and finally be done with cancer. Unfortunately, four years later and nearing the end of a twin pregnancy, Jennifer began to experience extreme pain in her back and ribs. Concerned that it could be her cancer returning again, she decided to get a check-up after the birth of her twins. A devastating MRI revealed that the cancer had spread to her spine, hips, and ribs, leading to a collapsed vertebrae. Suddenly, Jennifer found herself facing stage 4 breast cancer with a set of newborn twins.]

“It was devastating… but I wasn’t totally shocked, because I’d always known I had never looked at the real root cause. Somewhere deep down, I knew something still wasn’t right, but I had denied it and pushed it back.”
