Top Reasons Why You Should Have Warm Lemon Water Everyday
We all know that it is essential to have a good mix of vitamins, minerals, protein, antioxidants and other healthy components each and every day to ensure our body gets all that it needs to remain healthy, stave off diseases and other maladies. It’s probably safe to say that many of us receive these important vitamins and nutrients in the form of supplements, as our hectic busy lifestyles don’t often afford us opportunity to eat properly every day.
That is why it’s more important than ever to take at least a few minutes each day to deliver a powerful energy booster and body cleanser to our system in a manner that requires very little effort and expenditure. The way to do this is simply through drinking lemon water, which we can prepare and have readily available all throughout the week, at work, at home, on the road, and anywhere else you might be.

What Can Lemon Water do for You?
Energy – Most people start their day with coffee, which does of course impart a bit of energy to your body and mind. But it also has debilitating effects as well, not only drying you out but also depleting your body of vital nutrients and minerals. This only leaves you wanting more coffee, and so the cycle goes. Many reports also indicate that coffee may long term deliver dangerous toxins to the body as well. But by drinking lemon water, not only will you get a fresh burst of energy, you’ll also benefit from cleaner energy that doesn’t put undue stress on the body or cause your system to release sugar into the bloodstream, as coffee does.
Body Cleansing – Citric acid is a natural body cleanser, helping to reduce the risk of kidney stones and pancreatic stones, as well as keeping the arteries clean of deposit buildup. Paired with clean water, drinking lemon water also provides you with a large host of antioxidants, vitamin C, electrolytes, and the ability to improve hydration. Additionally, drinking lemon water also provides you with many phytonutrients, also referred to as vitamin P, which help to improve oxygen and blood circulation.
Potassium – Lemons and other citrus such as lime are also excellent sources of potassium. Maintaining good levels of potassium in your body is critical, as low levels of potassium can be attributed to depression, lack of mental energy, and anxiety. Potassium also helps to improve heart function.
Digestion – Drinking lemon water throughout the day promotes healthy digestion. The chemical compounds found in lemon water are similar to saliva and digestive juices found in the stomach. Additionally, lemon water also helps to cleanse the liver, decreases the amount of bile produced and instead stimulates the production of healthy enzymes.
How Much Lemon Water do I Need to Drink?
A good ratio to begin with when making your own lemon water is to squeeze one lemon into about 16-32 ounces of water. Bottled water, or water that has been filtered is best. It is also fine to add natural sweeteners such as stevia, or other flavorful enhancements such as herbs. Adding apple cider vinegar also imparts extensive healthy benefits. Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning is best, and also before each meal.
Note: It is important to include some of the pulp of the lemon, and even grate some of the lemon peel and pectin into the water, as many of the healthy benefits of lemons are find in the rind and membranes.
