Juicing is an important ingredient in the overall Hope4Cancer diet plan when our patients are at the clinic. We also hope they continue this daily practice as part of their home program. It is a key way to bring some liquid sunshine to the cancer healing process.
We advocate for juices with more vegetables and less fruits as a means of keeping the sugar content as low as is palatable. And while a less sweet juice takes a little time to get used to, we find our patients acquire a taste for this rich and plentiful goodness within a few days of drinking it daily. Try out our recipe for Green Juice!
Hope4Cancer Green Juice Recipe
3 stalks celery
6 leaves of romaine lettuce (or any leafy vegetable like Swiss chard or kale)
3 – 4 well-packed Tablespoons of parsley, mint or cilantro
1 inch ginger root
1 lemon, peeled prior to juicing
1 clove of garlic, peeled
Blend all ingredients in your juicer and enjoy!
If you find the taste is not sweet enough for you at first, add the juice of 1-2 red apples. Then try cutting back the sweetness bit by bit each day, your palate will learn to appreciate the taste over time!
