Is Your Body In Balance? Microbes, Cancer, and Healing

Did you know that a healthy human body has an average of 10 microbes for every cell? With the average number of cells in a human body calculated at around 37.2 Trillion, that’s a whole lot of microbes! In fact, it’s estimated that microbes (which include bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa) make up a large majority of the earth’s biomass.

These microbes are an essential part of the healthy human body, existing prominently in our guts, on our skin, and just about everywhere else. When our microbiome is healthy and in balance, it helps us with digestion, boosts our immune system, and processes toxins. However, an imbalance in the population of microbes that favors harmful over beneficial microbes has been shown to relate to our incidence of mental health issues and chronic diseases, including auto-immune diseases and cancers.

While the medical establishment prefers to ignore this connection, we at Hope4Cancer Institute know that helping our patients create and maintain a healthy balance of microbes in the body is essential to cancer healing. That’s why Eliminating Microbes & Pathogens is one of our 7 Principles of Cancer Therapy.

Upsetting the Balance

There are many aspects of modern life that can have a harmful impact on our microbiome (the complex ecosystem of microbes inside and on our bodies), including poor diet, overuse of broad-spectrum antibiotics and antibacterial products, excessive alcohol consumption, and long-term elevated stress. In combination, these factors can impact the balance of microbes in the body, particularly the gut, causing dysbiosis — an increase in harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa.

A recent book that is shedding light on this important topic is The Microbiome Solution: A Radical New Way to Heal Your Body from the Inside Out. Dr. Robynne Chutkan M.D., the author and leading gastroenterologist, addresses many of the lifestyle factors that can impact our microbiome, including many typical medical treatments such as steroid and hormone therapies. She emphasizes that while it may feel like we are surrounded by negative factors, there are many things we can do to help keep our microbiome balanced.

Restoring The Balance

We’ve written before about the importance of nutrition for cancer healing, and our dietary protocols take the health of the microbiome into account. Our in-house nutritionist, Oscar Puig, is an expert in juicing, fermenting, sprouting, and dehydrating — all excellent whole foods preparation methods. Fermented foods in particular are an excellent way to address a healthy balance of microbes in the gut.

As Dr. Chutkan shares in an interview with CBS News,

“We need to eat food that feeds our gut bacteria, what we called prebiotic foods,”…

Foods like garlic, asparagus, leeks, onion, oats, lentils and artichokes, as well as fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi and pickles all act as prebiotics.

Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation

Once a disruption in the microbiome has occurred, there are a number of treatments that can be used to destroy the unwanted pathogens in the body. At Hope4Cancer, we often recommend Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UVBI) to help our patients bring the body back into balance and heal microbial-based infections. Since its discovery in the 1940s, UVBI has shown remarkable healing rates for early and moderately advanced infections, both bacterial and some viral.

UVBI uses the benefits of ultraviolet light to enable the oxidation of ozone in blood. There is a severe deficit of oxygen in the body when someone is suffering from a chronic disease such as cancer, allowing anaerobic pathogenic microbes to thrive. These pathogens are highly sensitive to UV irradiation, making them treatable with UVBI.

Physiological benefits of UVBI have been shown to include the inactivation of toxins and viruses, destruction of harmful bacteria, and the improvement of the blood’s immune defense. Treatment consists of the withdrawal of blood, which is treated with ozone and passed through tubing where it is briefly exposed to ultraviolet light before being returned directly to the patient’s bloodstream. The circulation of the treated blood then contributes to the rapid destruction of pathogens. The effects of UVBI are long-lasting, and there is an absence of harmful side effects to the patient. UVBI is an exceedingly safe method of improving health naturally without the potential side effects of drugs.

Healing At Hope4Cancer

“The cancer microbe is present in the blood, tissue, excreta, and body fluids of all human beings. When the immune system is functioning normally these microbes do not cause disease. However, when tissue is damaged or weakened, these microbes became aggressive and pathogenic.”

– Virginia Livingston, M.D.

At Hope4Cancer, we treat antimicrobial therapy as an integral part of cancer treatment. The role of microbes in cancer propagation is significant and requires attention. We provide UVBI therapy in order to destroy microbial pathogens alongside nutrition that aims to restore the balance of healthy microbes in the body.
