Hope4Cancer Baja

Your Home of Healing Just Over The Border

The original Hope4Cancer Institute, our Baja center is truly a home away from home for patients and companions alike.

In this vibrant house of healing, both staff and fellow patients find it natural to bond quickly. Our commitment to education coupled with a strong community focus helps patients develop a support system that truly lasts a lifetime. You may come to Baja as a patient, but you’ll leave as family.

Arrival

Conveniently located 30 minutes south of San Diego International Airport, we happily provide patients a free shuttle service from the airport or your accommodations in San Diego directly to our Baja center. If you are traveling by car and do not feel comfortable driving into Mexico, we can also arrange for our shuttle to pick you up at a designated border parking lot.

Many of our patients find that the process of crossing the border can be a little overwhelming. For that reason, we believe that the first time you pass through our clinic doors should be your first chance to unwind. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a comforting welcome lounge where you can complete paperwork at your leisure, begin to meet staff and fellow patients, or enjoy a freshly cooked meal if you are hungry.

Accommodations

After completing paperwork, you’ll have a chance to retreat to the tranquility of your private room. Each room consists of two single beds, allowing patients to have a companion accompany them on their Hope4Cancer journey. We know being away from loved ones during treatment can be tough, so we encourage all patients to bring a family member or friend along for support.

All patient rooms in our Baja facility have been recently renovated and patients are also free to bring pictures or mementos from home to decorate their rooms during their stay. We often find that our patients enjoy leaving little mantras and messages of hope behind for the next person.

Everyday Living

Once you’ve begun to settle in, you’ll want to explore all the amenities our Baja center has to offer. Whether you seek community and activity in one of our busier common areas or a peaceful retreat next to the atrium waterfall, you’ll find anything you need within our clinic doors. Between an in-house chef preparing daily clean, organic meals, and our new fresh-squeezed juice bar providing delicious refreshments, you won’t even have to worry once about food or drinks. Truly a home away from home, Hope4Cancer Baja consists of three conjoined houses with living quarters scattered throughout. Our days often start early, as patients are encouraged to begin therapies around 6:30 am, and lights out occurs at 10:00 pm, but patients have the freedom and flexibility to manage schedules to their liking. Therapy routines take place Sunday through Friday, with free time offered on alternating Saturdays, still allowing time for therapies.

Free Day Activities

Our close proximity to both Tijuana and San Diego provides a wealth of options for free time activity. We’re happy to help you take advantage of your time here and often coordinate city tours and transportation to downtown Tijuana or the neighboring city Rosalito for shopping trips. However, the best getaway is simply a few steps outside your door – at your Hope4Cancer Baja home, the beach is literally your backyard!

Safety

A natural concern that many of our patients have before arriving in Mexico is how safe the surrounding area is for travelers. We’ve found that these concerns quickly dissolve once patients have had a chance to experience Baja Tijuana. Our city is a very diverse one, with both Mexicans and Americans living side by side, and our patients and companions commonly walk around both the beach and the town without worry or hesitation.

Staff

While English is the predominant language spoken in the house, and all of our doctors and medical team speak English fluently, some of our extra helping hands are still learning. However, we’ve found time and again that even language barriers do not prevent these staff members from creating lasting bonds with our patients. By nature we are a very affectionate team, and we all speak the universal language of touch. A lot of hugs are shared within our walls! The level of compassion may seem foreign to many at first, especially in contrast to the colder clinical atmospheres that are the standard in the conventional world, but by the end of your stay we’re sure you’ll feel like family.
